I am a Scientia Senior Lecturer (tenured) of Economics at UNSW Sydney and a Senior Research Fellow at the Resilient Democracy Lab. 

I primarily work in political economy, public economics, and broadly applied microeconomics. My research examines how political rhetoric, social and economic conditions, and institutions shape social and political beliefs, preferences, and behaviour. I am particularly interested in political belief and preference formation, social norms, political culture, political persuasion and polarisation, and the consequences of violence and discrimination. One strand of my research examines the economics and political economy of gun policy in the U.S.

My work has appeared in journals such as the Quarterly Journal of Economics, Economic Journal, Journal of the European Economic Association, Review of Economics and Statistics, and the Economic Journal.
